Deck the Halls and Welcome All: Christmas at the House 2006 allows visitors a glimpse into the magical White House holiday celebrations of 2006. The exhibit will be adorned with recreations and decorations of the Christmas White House holiday, behind-the-scenes photos, and a replica of the Blue Room White House Christmas tree. See it with family and friends on Saturday, January 5th.
The United States President and First Lady have chosen a theme for White House holiday celebrations every year since 1961. That year, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy decorated a tree placed in the oval Blue Room with ornamental toys, birds, and angels modeled after Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite" ballet.
In 2006, President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush chose the theme “Deck the Halls and Welcome All” to reflect the joys of the season and recall historic holiday memories at the White House.
Traditional and elegant decorations adorned the White House in 2006. Sparkling decorations reflected the joys of the season and recalled historic holiday memories at the White House. Garlands with brightly colored glass ornaments cascaded over doorways on the State Floor, and snow greens, spiral topiaries and red ribbons decorated rooms throughout the White House. The color schemes of scarlet, crimson and fuchsia boldy accented the traditional touches of the holiday decorations. The official White House Christmas tree twinkled with crystals, snow, and ornaments of iridescent glass.
Admission to witness Deck the Halls and Welcome All in addition to the rest of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is 16 dollars for adults. For further ticket pricing and to purchase admission, visit www.bushcenter.org.
