Experience a beautiful tale of poverty, faith and hope during The Little Match Girl Passion. This special engagement will be presented by the Avant Chamber Ballet and Verdigris Ensemble on Saturday, December 8th at Moody Performance Hall.
The 2018/2019 season opens with The Little Match Girl Passion, a collaboration with the Dallas-based Verdigris Ensemble with music by David Lang. Together on stage, the dancers of Avant Chamber Ballet and the singers of Verdigris Ensemble bring to life Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning setting of the famous Hans Christian Andersen story with choreography by Katie Cooper and conducted by Sam Brukhman.
This is the first time a contemporary choral work will be staged with ballet in Dallas. Opening the evening is The Nutcracker Suite with live music by Cezanne Quartet and choreography by Katie Cooper and Paul Mejia.
Avant Chamber Ballet brings exceptional live dance and chamber music together for audiences in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. They present their performances exclusively with live music, as well as regularly commission new works of choreography and score.
