On November 16, 2004, former Town of Flower Mound employee, Dorothy Walkup lost her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Now, the Town of Flower Mound is sponsoring Dorothy's Dash to honor her memory, share her example with others who may suffer this terrible disease, and to raise funds to combat Multiple Sclerosis. Dorothy was an advocate, supporter, and former participant in track and field, so what better way to acknowledge this outstanding person than participate in Dorothy’s Dash on Saturday, November 9th?
This Saturday, join the Town of Flower Mound to honor Dorothy Walkup’s legacy with an early Saturday run. After the race, participants can enjoy music, refreshments, and awards. Awards will be given to the male and female winners in the open and masters divisions, as well as the first three finishers in each age category. All Kid's K participants will receive a medal. There will be no duplication of awards.
Dorothy Walkup will be missed but not forgotten as a friend, mentor, and shoulder to lean on to all who had the good fortune of knowing her. Her strength and courage were never more evident than during her seven-year fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Dorothy's Dash net proceeds will benefit the Lone Star Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, in honor of Dorothy Walkup.
